How the single-pool budget operates, where club revenue originates, and what happens when entering a financial deficit.

Single Pool Model (Free Budget)

Baxball does not separate artificial salary caps from daily operations. Everything is managed through a single free budget pool:

Free Budget = Projected Revenue − Projected Expenses

Both player salaries and buyout fees are deducted 1:1 from this pool. Spending €100k on a buyout reduces your capacity for player wages by exactly €100k.

Revenue Sources

Fixed Base
Guaranteed funds from your national division and European tier. Higher tiers grant substantially higher payouts.
Sponsorships
Seasonal deals disbursed daily. Sponsor size is driven by your European tier and club prestige — not by win streaks.
Gate Receipts
Revenue generated per home game. Turnout follows your tier, club prestige, fan sentiment and ticket pricing; arena size caps the maximum haul.

Expenses & The 20% Ceiling Rule

Core operating expenses include player wages, coaching staff, youth academy operations, and scouting networks.

20% Maximum Contract Guardrail

No single athlete may sign a deal exceeding 20% of your total annual budget. This protects franchises from crippling over-reliance on a single star contract.

Deficit & Voluntary Club Reset

Baxball features no sudden artificial bankruptcy or forced contract voids. GMs learn through organic cause-and-effect:

  • Signing Freeze: When free budget drops below zero, you cannot submit purchase buyouts or sign lucrative contracts.
  • Minimum Deals: Deficit-stricken teams are permitted only 1-year minimum salary deals to patch roster holes.
  • Market Recovery: The first step out of a hole is shedding your most expensive contracts (sales or releases), not resetting the club. A negative budget does not stop operations — games and revenue continue; only purchases are blocked.
  • Club Reset (Lifeline): Should poor past decisions push the club into an inescapable debt trap, you may invoke a Club Reset once per season to rebuild clean from ground up.
  • Recovery After Reset: Reset drops prestige to the bottom, and league payouts scale with it. Daily activity and promotion rebuild prestige; inactivity and relegation erode it. Wins alone do not raise prestige — they pay off through promotions, fans and sponsors.

What Is Prestige

Prestige is your club reputation (0–100), visible to players, sponsors and fans. A slow but mighty lever: high prestige cheapens everything and boosts income, low prestige does the reverse.

  • How to build: Daily activity grows reputation little by little, promotion to a higher league gives a big jump, and some community choices can help too. Patience pays — a marathon, not a sprint.
  • What destroys: Club Reset drops prestige to the bottom, relegation cuts it hard, and long inactivity slowly erodes it. Winning games alone does not automatically raise prestige.
  • Money impact: Higher prestige means a bigger fixed base (growing smoothly, with no sudden jumps), richer sponsors and fuller arenas. A low-prestige club pays higher wages for the same players.
